Marissa grew up in New Jersey and has been working with children since her teenage years. She earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from New York University. During her time there, she worked at a childcare center from her first year of school until graduation. Additionally, she gained social work experience as a college access counselor at a high school in Brooklyn.

After returning to New Jersey, Marissa worked as a counselor at a middle school, providing case management and clinical services. Her experiences with middle and high school students have shaped her passion for providing quality education to all youth. This dedication led her to pursue a Master of Social Work at Rutgers University, specializing in clinical work with children and adolescents. As part of her education, she interned at a residential treatment program for young mothers and their children.

Marissa is excited to continue her work with young children in a school setting. She is particularly interested in teaching students how to read, write, and communicate with others. She loves reading to children and finds joy in watching their vocabulary grow. Recently, she moved to the Bay Area, drawn by its natural beauty and the uniqueness of its communities.
